The Rogers family are building a new Contessa 32 to be called Calypso - read all about it in Jessie's blog.
Yachting Monthly article February 2010
A big feature article about the Contessa 32 appeared in Yachting Monthly in February 2010. The front cover shows a beautiful picture of Gigi under spinnaker. Yachting Monthly have also posted some lovely sailing footage on Youtube:
Jeremy Rogers wins the Contessa 32 National Championships - again! September 6th 2009
Jeremy Rogers has taken the Contessa 32 National Championships title for the second consecutive year. It was a close-run series hosted this year by Hayling Island Sailing Club, but Jeremy and the crew of Gigi will be retaining the trophy.
Vintage Rogers built Contessa 26, Shamaal II, for sale and Richard Clifford meets Sebastian Smith
Richard was the very first owner of Shamaal II, and in 1974 he broke an OSTAR record when he sailed single-handed across the Atlantic in this little Contessa 26; then he made the return trip alone during the same summer. He later went on to race her round Britain in the double-handed event.
After several changes of ownership Sebastian and his wife bought Shamaal II, and they have made her famous once again with their reports in Practical Boat Owner about their Mediterranean cruising adventures. They brought the boat back to Britain this summer with their two little daughters via the Atlantic coast, and we look forward to reading about that voyage too.
Strangely Richard and Sebastian had never met before this photo was taken aboard Shamaal II. They had a lot to tell each other about the boat, which is now outside the Rogers boatyard, laid up and regrettably for sale due to Sebastian's work relocation to New York.

Jeremy Rogers' yard has relocated to the Lymington Yacht Haven
Jeremy Rogers Yachts has now completed the move to the Lymington Yacht Haven, King's Saltern Road, Lymington, Hampshire SO41 3QD.
Jeremy says that this move to a waterside location is already making it much easier to accept small jobs on Contessas and other boats. Visiting yachts are able to stay on the boatyard's work berth whilst repairs and maintenance work are undertaken - much quicker and less hassle than before.
Then of course prices are far more competitive now that road transport costs to the old yard are taken out of the equation. It's altogether a much more convenient set-up for the yard and customers alike, and we look forward to showing off our new facility.
Telephone and fax numbers remain the same, and of course the website and e-mail address
are unchanged: 01590 645454 / 642537 and www.jeremyrogers.co.uk.
Refurbishment Two happy owners
Checkmate has just under gone a significant refurbishment at Jeremy Rogers yard.
Having had odd jobs completed at other yards over the years I can honestly say that if you are thinking of having any work done on your beloved Contessa then the only place to take her is home. Home being Jeremy’s yard.
The team are extremely capable and responsive to the changing client needs.
It is a pleasure to deal with people who understand the yachts and the owners!
As we all know there no such thing as a small invoice for any work on a yacht but if your Contessa needs or merits some investment then a trip to the yard is worth the money.
Our thanks to all the team for restoring Checkmate for us.
Tony and Eileen
Gigi takes to the water again - she looks like new
Three years after buying her back from the United States, Jeremy oversees Gigi as she goes back into the water in Lymington.

Contessa 32 owner, Tristan Gooley, 34, is celebrating a double solo ocean crossing.
After 26 days at sea Tristan arrived at Marigot Bay, St Lucia, on the afternoon of the 1st of January 2008 aboard Golden Eye, a twenty-five year-old Contessa 32 that was refurbished at Jeremy Rogers’ yard.
In May 2007 he took two days to fly in a single-engine Cessna Caravan from Goose Bay, Canada to Oxford, England.
The only other person to have achieved both is the legendary American navigator, Steve Fossett, who is still missing after a routine flight in Nevada in September.
Tristan is using his achievements to raise awareness of Prostate Cancer, a disease that kills one man every hour. He is also paying tribute to Steve Fossett.

John Kretschmer, who sailed 'Gigi' around Cape Horn in 1984, was also at the Show. He wrote the book, 'Cape Horn to Starboard' about the journey.
Tom Moult from Sydney, Australia Tom Moult bought his new Contessa 32, 'Lunacy', in 2006
"The whole experience of getting "Lunacy" built was fantastic, and very exciting - even though I was sitting on the other side of the world from Lymington.
I was able to make all the modifications and variations to the standard fit-out and specifications that I wanted to, and Jeremy's team never tired of my almost daily emails asking for this and that. On the two occasions that I made extended visits to the yard during the build, I couldn't have been better looked after by everyone involved.
"Lunacy" is now sitting on her mooring in Sydney Harbour and is admired by everyone who sees her. There have been the inevitable tweaks to be made, and all my questions and queries have been answered quickly and satisfactorily. If there is one tip I can pass on to future buyers it's this: Take the advice of Jeremy and his team, they've been doing this so long, they really do know best!"

Teresa Brualla :: Contessa 32 Owner
"I keep lovely memories of the seven months we lived aboard our Contessa. We did not miss a proper house during this time, because L'esprit was a great house for us."
Jim Hiller :: Contessa 32 Owner
“I have owned a lot of boats … but the only one that ever truly made me hear the violins was the Contessa 32. I cannot imagine a more beautiful sailboat. What is so extraordinary is that she sails as well as she looks!
The build experience was pure pleasure. Jeremy Rogers Yachts is one of the last genuine bespoke English yacht-builders. The boats are hand-built and it shows. The very personal relationship which is intrinsic to dealing with a company like Jeremy's made for an experience which I will never forget and will always cherish.”
Stephen Gratton :: Contessa 32 Owner :: OSTAR 2005
"I had a great little boat. Amelie took everything that was thrown at her and just ploughed on. I think I said it to Jeremy Rogers in a previous despatch - you build a great boat!"
