Refurbishing ‘Star Ven’

Like most vintage Contessa 32s this one had an interesting back story.

Originally commissioned for the commodore of the Royal Yacht Squadron back in 1977 ‘Star Ven’  had then been owned by a family who sailed her far and wide from her base in the West Coast of Scotland.

‘Star Ven’  was sent to us by her new owner for a complete refit with a brief to bring her back to an as new condition and bring her up to date both inside and out.

Her deck and topsides were repaired and resprayed and she was fitted with a new set of Anderson winches with Harken deck gear.

Her mast and rigging was upgraded with a new Selden rig and her capping and hand rails were replaced with Costa Rican teak from a trusted timber supplier with good environmental provenance.

Down below the saloon floor was taken up, a stainless water tank fitted with extra stringers fore and aft and the floor re-laid with solid Thermally modified maple.

New upholstery, a refit of the galley and a new engine brought her back to life ready for action in her new home in Barcelona where she will be cruised and raced.
