Once again the Round the Island Race delivered some challenging weather with only 153 of the total 939 boats entered finishing the race. There was incredibly close racing for the Contessa 32s – in ISC overall Bugler, Binkie II, Jemima of Farley and Drumbeat were 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th with only 3 minutes between them – OOD 34 Mickey Mouse, veteran of the 1979 Fastnet (and many other offshore races) came in 7th. Not a bad line up of Contessas in the top 10!
Contessa 32 Corafin finished a respectable 27th on a day when showing up was no mean feat and getting round was an impressive accomplishment.
Meanwhile, High Potential was having a good stab at bringing home the Gold Roman Bowl, finishing in 6th place in IRC overall with Meow in 33rd. Hats off to all those turned out.
